Heading to the Gym for a workout?
Let me tell you a gym bag is a must! If I am going to work out for a while, there are some things I pack. Some things change day to day but Let me give you a basic run down of my gym gear.
1. My bag! With all the things, I carry it’s a must to have a bag. I can juggle a little but not that well. 2. My water bottle, Hydration before during and after exercise can make the difference in your workout and recovery. I use the CamelBak Podium Water Bottle, 24 oz for hockey it lets me get a drink without taking off my helmet. 3. My iPhone 7, I use Spotify, Pandora, and just my music. I have a variety of playlists I use. 4. Headphones, I’m cautious about my ears the in-ear earbuds can cause ear damage easier than the over-ear headphones, so I use my beats headphones for working out. 5. Running shoes, it sounds like a no-brainer, but I don’t work out without them. 6. Gym clothes, for me this is usually a shirt socks and pants or shorts.
For me, those are essentials the rest of these are my recommendations.
7. Fitbit, I love something or someone telling me I worked out hard. The validation is nice. 8. Powerade or Gatorade, after my workout I like to replenish my electrolytes I prefer the small bottles. Honestly, I don’t need all the sugar from the bigger bottles, and it’s about the right balance of electrolytes to help hydration. I will go over the science of this in a future post. 9. I like a snack, like Go-Go squeez applesauce, a piece of fruit, or a Kind granola bar. It's nice quick energy after a workout to help with the recovery. 10. Armband for my phone, I like being able to run on the treadmill or track, and this keeps my phone from bouncing around and falling out of my pocket. The odbo Universal Water Resistant Running Sport Armband is one of the best armbands I’ve found it doesn’t slide around on me. 11. A towel. I don’t know about you but I sweat a lot, and the towel is just nice to dry off. 12. Deodorant, do I need to say more? This is one of my wife’s favorite things for me to take.
I also recommend a workout buddy. It’s very helpful for keeping you accountable and pushing you harder at the gym. Not a must but very useful. I hope like the little glimpses into my journey you’ve enjoyed a peek into my gym bag minus the smell.
I’m excited to report that this journey is helping me I have lost 11 lbs. This year! I am still working towards eating clean, but I am trying to make the small lasting changes to my diet that will enable them to be my lifestyle, not a quick fix. I hope you’re enjoying this and keep coming back for more.
